Career insights: 7 questions to ask before joining a venture
When interviewing for the role, it is essential to consider the long-term stay in the company, progression opportunities, and evaluate with most objectivity the current situation in the team.
To get a better insight ask:
What are your go-to-market plans? Who is responsible for those? How are we progressing with regards to our yearly targets?
How do you position yourself with respect to the competitors? How does our pricing differ from those of competitors?
Are there any regulatory challenges in the market we are in? How are we tackling those?
What is the size of the addressable market with our product? How do we segment our customer bases within in?
What are the next in-line priorities in our product roadmap? What are the next big features we are releasing and why those are demanded by our customers?
What makes your team successful in the long run? What is the central power that ties everyone together in the organization?
What is the mission of my role and how does it contribute to the overall mission of the organization?
Come prepared with clear responses to those questions:
Why the challenge in the current company? Why move now?
What do you think is the feedback from your bosses if they were to speak openly with you?
How do you see yourself in the upcoming 2 years?
What would you like to achieve in the next 5 years?
What is the most important thing for you in the role and the company you are joining?
What are the 8 things you are super excited to do and that you do extremely well in your role?
What are you most definitely not interested in doing?
